We have a fairly long (my lifetime) tradition in our family of NOT having cousins close in age. My Father has one sister and she had already had her two girls when I was born. I think they were something like five and ten by the time I came along. I did (and do) have a relationship with the younger one, but (at that time) the older one, not so much. I think she probably thought we were both something to be avoided at all costs, us being babies and all. As adults, we can enjoy each others company a lot, and I don’t even know now how old any of us are!
My Mothers brother and his wife, Ummel Bob and More Ummel Bob (named by Beeve, many moons ago) waited until I was a senior in high school to start their family. I’m certain I thought they were wonderful and fun, but I do remember being a TAD self involved at that time. With my life . And what I was wearing. And where I was going. And with whom. And once again, as adults we enjoy each others company and I don’t remember how old any of us are. They possibly do know how old I am, a LOT older than them.
It was our turn, almost 19 years ago this month . Our children are 2 and 1/2 and three years apart with Mousey being the youngest at 13. Ummel Beeve and More Ummel Beeve (her name for this post anyway!) married just a year after Little Girl was born and they decided to carry on the family tradition. So last October they were delivered of this Big Hunk “O”Sweetness:
Known by many names; Mister Man, Punkin-Butt (His Mama’s for him) Squirt (his Daddys) J-Ro (our kids), Jack-Jack (from the Incredibles), Kewpie doll, Little Goomba , and as his personality develops, I’m sure many more. We keep him two days while his Mom and Pop work and we are really enjoying Mr. Charming. Just wanted to brag a bit, I’m sure you will be hearing more!

In some ways, your kids are like cousins to my kids!
They certainly grew up together and have seen each other more than my kids have seen their actual cousins!
I’m so thankful for those relationships!
Julian looks sweet–maybe someday I’ll actually meet him!
