Fourth of July Weekend Pictures

Well, I’m not sure what was wrong with the computer, but Honey waved his hand and said you don’t want to be broken, and it’s working again. For now. He is a Jedi.

As I mentioned a couple of posts ago, we had a nice mix of work and play over the holiday.

We started the weekend Friday night. Abby took Honey and I out to eat at Logan’s, cause we are well known carnivores. It was yummy! We then made her go to the  Sam’s across the street because I needed some Miracle Grow to feed my so-so performing potted plants. I know I perform better after a good meal, maybe they will too. We then went home to watch some movies that Miss Ab-Cat so graciously provided from the library. Unknown with Liam Neeson and The Adjustment Bureau with Matt Damon. Both fine, but with very suspect endings. Which, in my opinion, always ruins a movie.

On Saturday we went out to The Grandpa’s house to have dinner and go out on the boat to see the fireworks. Mousey and The Boy were supposed to be arriving home from camp in Alabama around 6, and then coming out to join the festivities. That never did work out, as they didn’t get home until around 7, and due to riding all day in a bus in temperatures possibly exceeding 203 degrees, with broken air conditioning, they both desperately needed a shower. Time wise, it was not going to happen. So we soldiered on without them.

Goomba spent some time on the big swing.

With Beeve and The Ab-Cat for company.

Here is Dad and our friend Mrs. H in front of Dad’s new arbor. He planted climbing roses. It should be most beautimous in a couple of years. He keeps his yard up nicely.

Dad’s neighborhood cat, Chewy, likes his house best. He has moved into the garage and knows how to to get fed. He likes the patio too.

We barely went outside all day. It was boiling lava hot, and it made me want to melt into a puddle.

The Goomba is mostly just like this picture all the time, a blurrrrrrrrrrr.

I made my Grandmother Georgia’s lemonade pie. I used to make it all the time, but forgot about it for years. It tasted very good to us, but I need to work on my crust, it was way too hard, and uneven. Hmmmm…

I did a horrid job taking pictures on Saturday, but I  have a semi good good excuse. My camera was acting up and kept telling me to change my batteries. Which I had just done. It is not fond of a particular batch of rechargables we have, I have begun to see a pattern. Always at most inopportune times.

We never did make it out on the boat for fireworks. It was threatening rain, it was so hot, we were tired, there was lightning, so we let Grandpa off the hook.

The next day, Honey, Mouse and I had our first dunk in the pool. Look how long Mousey’s hair is!!! It has never been this long ever in the history of her hair!

Katie doesn’t do well in the heat anymore, she is old. So we dunk her too. Honey and Mouse were imitating her attractive, tongue to the right, signature look. She’s a sparkling beauty.

Oh yeah. She looks possessed.

The Boy and his friend Elyk did not join us. They just came home to get something or other and leave again. They are dog sitting 3 dogs, and getting paid for it most handsomely.

The Ab-Cat did not join us either. But she did come out and read her book, The Help, so she will be ready to see the movie when it comes out in August.

The water was delicious!

On to the actual Fourth. Beeve, Stacey and Goomba made their maiden voyage to the pool. Goomba was all about the jumping.

Ready, set…..

In between all the eating, gathering and pooling, our union, HonMouseKel, hauled and sifted major rock-age, in truly heinous and hot working conditions. We may file an appeal. The hauling is done, for the moment. Until we have to re-haul it all somewhere else.

And that is the end of my Fourth of July pictorial. It’s not much, but it’s all we have.

Have a fine Thursday.

Sounds like a fine weekend to me and so glad the computer is working so we could see the pictures of what you are telling us. The pictures are very good with lots of close-ups. Love that.

So the sun does shine up north every now and then, eh? Cool!
