The New Chariot

Ab-Cat got her new wheels! We only ordered it in March, what up healthcare?

You know how you never notice how ratty your shoes are until you go to wear them the next season? You are shocked at how worn out and ….yukky they are? And you are horrified that you wore them so long?  That’s what happened.

We knew Girlfriend’s chair was old and creaky, the front wheels wobbled like they had the palsy. The seat cushion was ripping. It was dinged, scratched and plum worn out. Honey had it in the laundry room about once a month, taking things apart, cleaning them, tightening them, spraying parts with magic spray. The front wheels were getting un-fixable. Four wheelchair years are like dog years.

Bald as a billiard ball.

We went and saw our buddy Scott over at University of Michigan’s Wheelchair Seating. He measured and did his wheelchair-y thing. Abby did the most important part, picked out her new color, titanium!

She says it’s taller than her old one. Probably because the tires have treads!

It’s a thing of great beauty, and smooth and quiet to boot!

Goodbye Ricky Bobby, you have served her well!

Does it break down easily?! As in, would it fit in Lauren’s car trunk? I know Abby was so disappointed that her old chair couldn’t/wouldn’t fit last month. I’m wishin’, hopin’, and prayin’ that it will … 🙂 Sometimes it’s the smallest things that make the biggest difference in life!

I think he said the back folded forward. That was the problem last month, it was about 2 inches shy of fitting!
