Sarasota For The Day

The day started grey and dreary so we decided to get out of Dodge. Or Bonita Springs, whatever. We headed about an hour and some north up to Sarasota.

Back in The Mitten, Honey and The Boy had seen an episode of Man Verses Food where the guy was eating at this place. They thought it looked good. So we headed on over.

We thought we had been there years before on a visit to Bradenton, but it was a different Yoder’s. There are evidently a few. Who would have thought the Sarasota/Bradenton area would be such a hotbed of Amish activity?

We could tell right away it wasn’t the same place. Different parking lot, different inside colors, quite a bit smaller and not as dark. All very nice though.

Because Honey and I are married and have to do everything together, we both had the small roast beef and mashed potatoes.

It wasn’t small to me, it was BIG on the yummy though!!!

The Boy finally had his requested, Thanksgiving turkey and dressing, birthday dinner!! Large, thank you very much!

It looked like a whole bird.

It’s a big job, he looked uncertain of his ability.

He is a card carrying member of The Clean Plate Club, and is ready for his turkey coma/nap.

Honey had what they called a taster. Peanut butter pie. It was scrumtrulescent!

I had Key Lime Pie. It did not come in taster size, only huge size. Honey helped, but we still left a little less than half.

They had this little photo area of Amish related things so I made the Boys pose.

They were good for a couple shots, then they started bothering each other. As they do.

They are King Bother-ers. Noisy King Bother-ers  Father and son Bother-ers. In the car, in the restaurant, everywhere.

It was a tasty field trip. We would definitely go again!

Happy November!

They have Yoder’s amish stuff here in Indiana too — wow gigantic portions – who are they trying to feed – Larry the Cable Guy????

Who would have thought. Been going to Bradenton for years-never have seen one or would look to see one. They sure know how to cook; large portions too. Hope the weather clears up for you.

Looks very un-Florida-ish, but a good place to go to loose your appetite!
