February Photo Challenge-Something New

Hi Guys. I had the perfect idea for the photo prompt of something new, but then I couldn’t take the picture until after seven last night, and then it was all dark and such. It seemed prudent to just, you know, wait until today.

It is now today!

Meet Juanita!

003

Honey has been laboriously searching the internet for a new vehicle. We are fine at the moment, because we have 3 vehicles and 3 drivers, but that will cease to be the case this summer when The Boy returns from college and Mousey gets her license. Then all heck will break loose, and I am not a fan of all the heck.

So Honey has been proactive, as he likes to be. We have talked, seemingly endlessly, about cars since The Boy and The Subject broke the truck. As you know, I am ignorant of all things car related except color and comfort. I don’t know what people drive unless I happen to like that particular car because it looks cute. I identify all cars by color. Honey can verify this fun fact because it is endlessly annoying to him. He and The Boy can look at a car and tell you the year and make. My description would be “the big red trucky one.”

Armed with his list of have to have options; low mileage, good gas mileage, never been in an accident, cruise control, air conditioning, single owner, preferably an old lady, and his wish list of four wheel drive, combined with my non negotiables; leather seats, a not hideous color, and preferably an Escape.

He bargained endlessly to try and convince me to have a car. But that is precisely my problem with the Grandpa Gray Taurus, it’s a car. I have been driving that big high top van for YEARS now and a car seems like a death trap. I don’t enjoy being eye level with a big trucky thing’s bumpers. It is not comfortable for my back to sit with my legs out in front of me as opposed to bent at the knee like in a real chair. I was pretty firm on the no car thing. Because he loves me so, he knuckled under and limited his search to Escapes and Mariners, two names I know because Mrs. Schmenkman has one and The Peanuts Champ has the other. And I was NOT trying to be a copycat. I have liked the Escape for a long time now. Bigger than a car, higher off the ground, but not a big trucky thing. If we were going to get one of those gas hogs, I may as well keep driving the van.

He called, he emailed, he searched high and low, over hill and dale, and he found a sparkling beauty. In Dayton. OHIO. About four hours from home. I had 2, set in stone, things to work around this week and he was getting impatient that someone would snap it up, so he bought himself a Greyhound bus ticket, asked his work friend Fuzzy for a ride to the bus station in Toledo, where Fuzz lives, and hopped a bus for the middle of Ohio. With over $10,000 in his pocket!!!!!

Oh, I was praying. I had the Girls praying. I texted The Boy to pray for safety from all harm and evil and invisibility on that bus. God worked out all of the details, including the buyer picking him up on time at the other end, smooth sailing at The Secretary of State in Ohio for the temporary license, you know how we have issues whenever Secretary of State is involved, and a safe drive home after no sleep for almost 30 hours.

Am I glad we have it, YES.

Would I want him to do it again? NO!

I LOVE it!!!!

Welcome, Juanita. How did she get that name when she is from Ohio???
I’m right there with you when it comes to knowing my vehicles — color, comfort and cuteness!!! And after many years with our SUV, I also prefer sitting a bit higher while heading down the road.
(Having said that, my all-time favorite car was my Audi A4).

Sigh of relief that Honey and Juanita are home safe! She is quite a loverly looker, and I like Escape’s too and it is on my short list for the next vehicle….after another 100,000 miles on mine…the Good Lord willing!

Cool…es-cap-ays are nice (from Dora on Finding Nemo) and yours is pretty color-wise.

Butch just needed a little work… maybe mess his hair up and skip a few baths and wear shabby clothes…maybe open a small bottle of hooch in his pocket. You know the look I am suggesting…

My bro always says to be the crazy one in any crowd…no one will mess with the crazy one. That’s for next time. Advice is free as always!
