Potent Quotable

My dear, wonderful, spunky, Great Aunt Adalene passed away on Friday. She was 96 and said she was so ready to go and be with her Lord. She will be greatly missed by all who knew, loved and cherished her.

Some people come into our lives and leave footprints on our hearts
and we are never ever the same.

Never does one feel oneself so utterly helpless
as in trying to speak comfort for great bereavement.
I will not try it.
Time is the only comforter for the loss of a mother.

I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love.

Her love, support and kindness has been a treasure to me. Some people build into your life and you never forget it.

To live in hearts we leave behind
Is not to die.

We will meet again. Thank you Lord for this precious life.

2 Corinthians 5:1-7 (The Message)

1 For instance, we know that when these bodies of ours are taken down like tents and folded away, they will be replaced by resurrection bodies in heaven – God-made, not handmade 2 – and we’ll never have to relocate our “tents” again. Sometimes we can hardly wait to move – and so we cry out in frustration. Compared to what’s coming, living conditions around here seem like a stopover in an unfurnished shack, and we’re tired of it! We’ve been given a glimpse of the real thing, our true home, our resurrection bodies! 3 4 5 The Spirit of God whets our appetite by giving us a taste of what’s ahead. He puts a little of heaven in our hearts so that we’ll never settle for less. 6 That’s why we live with such good cheer. You won’t see us drooping our heads or dragging our feet! Cramped conditions here don’t get us down. They only remind us of the spacious living conditions ahead. 7 It’s what we trust in but don’t yet see that keeps us going.

Revelation 21:4 “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (NIV)

Special thoughts of you during this sad time. On the other hand, all those beautiful quotations and your thoughts on “never losing the people we love” can be a comfort.

Kelly, thanks for publishing your lovely thoughts on Mom. We are rejoicing in her promotion to Glory. She will have lots to tell your mother about your visits together.

It makes it so much easier for us when we know in our hearts that they are “ready to go”.
Hugs and prayers for all who are left behind with the sadness of missing her though.

Now, can you explain the outfit you’ve got on in that last pic? I can’t quite figure out what’s going on there.

She is and will continue to be one of my greatest examples of true saving faith. I will always remember what she said about being here for the Lords purposes. What a wonderful lady. And she never pulled my tooth.

Your tribute is a blessing. Thanks Kelly. You were a huge encouragement and a huge blessing to Grandma….especially in those last tough months….she talked about you all the time.

You are another of her grandchildren in my book. See you at her ‘party’ next week.

You rock. Praise God for our eternal hope through Jesus.
