A Present From Schmenky

Mrs. Schmenkman has a new hobby. Like she needs a new hobby.  And of course, she is really good at it!

She showed some of her painting on her blob here

She made a present for each of us Capri’s! She painted Capri Patt’s two doggies, Jack and Splash, and Capri Deb’s kitty Miss Bibbs, and she painted our own little (big) Mama Mia!

She found this picture way back in the blob archives,

And painted our pretty Mama! Cross eyed and everything!

That’s our Girl.

LOVE IT, Schmenky, thank you ever so much!!!

Capri’s Deb, Patt and I will pick Mrs. Schmenkman up at the airport this afternoon.

We have plans to do hairs, always necessary when you have been apart for a long time. At least for us.

We will eat.

We will talk.

We will laugh!

Have a good weekend!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Hi Guys!

Thanks for visiting and thanks to Joyce for getting us all on the same page to answer some questions!

1. William Shakespeare’s birthday is celebrated on April 23rd…when did you last read Shakespeare? What’s your favorite Shakespeare play?

Oh goodness, in high school? I think I had to read The Merchant of Venice. I think. Or not, I don’t remember. And I do not remember one single thing about the story either. I have no culture. One thing I do remember was my friend had to read a play as well. She chose one with a character named Bianca, whom she called Bi-onica, which I thought was funny. That’s it. That’s all I remember.

2. What food(s) would you recommend a foreign visitor try when they visit your home country?

Good Southern cooking and anything Honey makes.

3. What’s a lie you often tell yourself?

This is a hard one because I am generally a forthright person not given to self delusion. I am going to say that given my previous purchases at the garden center, I think I have more gardening skills than I actually do.

4. What’s something you’re good at that might surprise us? Remember this is a family friendly blog!

The Gals at BSF tell me I make a nice circle of chairs. You don’t want a wonky or egg shaped circle!

5. Who is your favorite animal character from a book?

How about Winnie the Pooh. Our kids were big fans of The Hundred Acre Woods gang.

“It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn’t use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like "What about lunch?" Winnie the Pooh

6. April showers bring May flowers…do you have a green thumb?

A very light green thumb. I can plant and water, but I don’t have The Eye. I have friends for that sort of thing.

7. Speaking of rainy days…which one of the following activities would you most want to spend time doing on a rainy day-

sort photos and create albums

bake cookies

read a good book

hold an all-day movie marathon

organize closets, cupboards, or bookshelves

try a new recipe

fix something that needs fixing

I would like to do any and ALL of those things! I would probably be more apt to read a book or have a movie marathon though.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Mrs. Schmenkman is flying in from Virginia tomorrow and will join Deb, Patt and I for a mini Capri reunion! Really looking forward to seeing the Gals! We will miss you Capri Laurie in Idaho!

Have a good week, thanks for stopping by!

Notes and Nappers

I would like to say that I have a well thought out, heart felt, hilarious post for today.

I do not.

I have two things to say, and neither is related nor moving, or hilarious.

I have been loving the BSF notes lately. The notes on James have been some of my favorites. He is so… practical. Near and dear to my heart. If you are looking for a Bible study, I would like to recommend BSF, or Bible Study Fellowship, it’s real name. Next year we will be studying Genesis, and there is no better place to start than “In the beginning…” is there?

As I was doing my BSF lesson, I was watching these two fur faces. I love to watch the kitty wittys, especially when sleeping.

Why they insist on sharing the chair, I do not know. We have other chairs, other places.

It wasn’t that cold, so it couldn’t be for warmth.

All furry ears and sweet paws and black tipped tails.

I wanted to bother, but I contained myself.

Back tomorrow with the Wednesday Hodgepodge. Have an uncontained Tuesday, go bother someone!

The Thrill of The Hunt

JammyGirl reminded me in her comment last week that I had not shown any pictures of the bargains hunted and captured at The GoodFella’s in Florida. Then Capri Deb asked if I had found anything when I stopped in at The Value World after out regular Thursday lunch after BSF. She actually asked if I scored some sleep pants, how well does she know me?

I found these three things on Thursday, and mercifully, there were no sleep pants to be had. I did hunt for a pj top to go with a lonely pair of capri jammy bottoms that have been patiently waiting for a mate for a while now. No luck, but I will resume the mission at another date. It’s good to have goals.

I used my second to last 50% off coo-pin. Black and white J.Crew, $1.90. Peachy twin set $2.30 from Eddie Bauer. I really only wanted the outside sweater, I don’t know if I can use the under one. It seems a little matchy matchy, and I am unsure how I feel about that. We shall see. And finally, a very functional navy blue sweater from Crystal Kobe, whom I have never heard of, for $1.90.

Now back to the Florida’s spoils. Goodfella prices are all set, like tops $3.49. pants $3.99, jeans $5.99 and jammie pants $1.99. Or such. It’s hard to remember exactly. The half off tag color that week was yellow. I think I had a few yellows, but I don’t recall which ones.

I like this Rafaella sweater because it has blue in it and I always think that looks nice with jeans. Green Charter Club, and the last two are Merona from Target. I have one of these already and it is SO soft and nice!

Back up to the purple and grey Merona. It reminds me of a book I had when I was young. I hope it doesn’t cause a problem, because Harry did not like his sweater.

I think the Chico skirt in the middle might have been a yellow tag. What I do know is I love that print. The sweater on the left was Liz Claiborne and it had the sweetest little diamond buttons on the cuff. It also has a smidge of cashmere. I have always avoided that because it seems like it could have a high itch factor, so I remain guarded about its wearability. I have no qualms about the darling cotton Old Navy on the left. It looks SO cute on.

I love this American Eagle top and I hope I can talk myself into wearing it. The neckline is a little blingy for me and I am hoping I can wear it unselfconsciously. I was just sure that spell check was going to tell me that was not a word! Mia seems to like it, bling and all. Now spell check is trying to tell me bling is not a word. It is SO a word spell check.

An assortment of tops not photographed particularly well. All will be cute and serviceable for summer wear. And most have my new favorite feature, flowing away from the torso.

There were other odds and ends, along with a couple purchases from non thrift stores. I have to say that there was not the plethora of bargains that I usually find at the Goodfella’s in the Naples area, but I certainly did all right.

As I have said before, it is the thrill of the hunt!

I have a confession. I have an obsession.

A capri sleep pant obsession. It has got to stop.

These are the two dresser drawers I have set aside for pajamas.

They are stuffed full of jammies.

Almost all were bargains hunted from thrift stores, with great patience and skill.

Many colors and patterns. Tops and bottoms. Flowers, plain, dots, designs, leopard, kitties and flamingos.

All have one thing in common. Stretchy comfort abounds.

Here are my twenty pair of cutey cute, comfy, colorful nightwear.

They say the first step is admitting you have a problem.

Hi, my name is Capri Kel and I am a sleep pant addict.

Way Back When-sday

This is one of my favorite pictures from 1997. Eight year old Ab-Cat and three year old Mousey reading Goodnight Moon.

I can tell so much by just looking. Mousey’s hand in mid point to finding the mouse, Abby’s smile that she got it right. They look so cozy, both in their jammies. Mousey’s 101 Dalmatian shoe there by the bed, she looked so cute in those shoes. We are still at our old house, the one I have heard all three kids say they want to buy when they get older. Their favorite house. I think they just like the memory of what our life was like there. This must have been just before Mousey went into her big girl bed. My last baby in the crib.
