Wednesday Hodgepodge

Hi Guys!

Thank you to Joyce for giving us some questions to talk about together!

1. My daughter2 is graduating from university this month and plans to teach elementary school. What are three qualities you most want to see evidenced in a teacher?

Well, they should enjoy children. You wouldn’t think that needed to be said, but I can think of a couple teachers I had where it was not evident. I feel a sense of humor is always helpful. Thirdly, discernment. Some of those rascals get away with murder or make other kids lives a nightmare. A teacher should have a good sense of who’s who and what’s what. Yeah, discernment.

2. You can tell a lot about a person by______how they treat their parents.

3. What song makes you think spring?

You know at the end of You’ve Got Mail, when Kathleen Kelly is finally going to meet the guy she doesn’t know is Joe Fox, and she is standing by that beautiful spring garden? The music playing is What A Wonderful World, I’ll say that.

4. May 1st is Mother Goose Day…share your favorite nursery rhyme.

There was a little girl, who had a little curl, right in the middle of her forehead.

When she was good she was very, very good, but when she was bad, she was horrid!

5. What makes someone unforgettable?

Lots of things, their spirit, personality, humor, joy, their story, humility, kindness. Some people have a walk with the Lord that brings them to mind, their family life, creativity or talent. Then there is the other side of the coin, the unforgettable bully or mean girl, the rude or absolutely ignorant comment from someone who should know better.I prefer the first kind of unforgettable for obvious reasons.

6. Should music and/or art be part of a well rounded education?

I think so. I always enjoyed both in school. Way more than gym anyway. Some kids need those things to excel in, along with sewing, cooking, and shop. Not everyone is cut out for book learning. It’s good to have other outlets for creativity and skill.

7. What social situations make you flustered or nervous?

Public speaking makes me feel vomitious.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

The Capri’s were together last weekend!

Capri’s Deb, Lis (Mrs. Schmenkman), Patt, Annie and Kel at Patt’s daughter Erin’s baby shower. We were missing Capri Laurie out in Idaho, but she was there in spirit!

021

We did some eating, some thrifting, some shopping and some talking, as usual. We mainly were surprised that we can’t go all day like we used to! Mrs. Schmenkman flew home to Virginia on Monday. I will be heading down there myself in 23 days! Get my bed ready Schmenky!

It’s good to have old friends!

The song this spring was: It’s Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas….sorry….I was thinking it was snowing and it was just the pollen.

Your responses to numbers 1 and 5 were spot on. Sometimes YOUR words come out of MY head, but way more elegantly !

You Capris look fine — glad you all had fun.
