Way Back When-sday Hodgepodge

Hi Guys, thanks for stopping by! Joyce is taking a spring break next week so Wednesday Hodgepodge will be off as well. I thank her for her faithful dedication to all the Hodgepodgers out there!

1. April showers bring May flowers, or so the saying goes. When did you last ‘shower’ attention on someone or have attention ‘showered’ on you? Did you love it, or did all that attention make you squirm?

Lots of attention is always unnerving to me, so let’s just not.
2. Share a favorite ‘spring break’ memory. Not talking about just the ‘college spring break’ thing, but any favorite spring break memory you’d like to share. Keep it family friendly please!

All of my memories of spring break are fun! We always went to Florida with the kids for two weeks. Such good memories. We visited my folks some, went to Disney, Universal, Busch Gardens, Sea World and more. My favorite parts were playing games back at the rented house or condo. Just talking and hanging around with my People.
3. It’s National Pecan Month…are you a fan? If so, what’s your favorite dish that calls for pecans?
Love
pecans and pecan pie please!!!!!

4.  ‘Put all your eggs in one basket’, ‘egg on your face’, ‘rotten egg’, ‘walk on eggshells’, or ‘a good egg’…which egg-spression could most recently be applied to your own life?

I have a situation in my life that feels like walking on eggshells.
5.  In my experience___________________________________.

…walking on eggshells is hard and I am not a fan.

6. What’s a  favorite song with the word rain in its title or lyrics?

Singing in the Rain. Such a good movie too!

7. What does the word hope mean to you?

I think hope is a very important word. But even more important is in whom you put your hope. People are always looking for someone they hope can fix their situation. Some people pride themselves on being fixers. Misplaced hope can be heartbreaking, devastating or deadly. The only hope I have found worth having in this word is hope in Jesus. Hope in Him is not a wistful, maybe, I wish kind of thing. It’s the assurance that there is more to this life. His work on the cross and the resurrection made a way for eternal life, the forever life, not this temporary, hard, afflicted life we have now.

Like the old hymn, My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18  So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

Here is the Way Back portion of the post. This trip was April of 2002. We usually stayed with my folks for a few days before we headed over to whatever we rented. The kids loved visiting and especially loved their giant pool!! Mousey was just asking the other night if I remembered the French toast Grandma always made when we were in Florida.

At that cool pool! One of my favorite pictures of Ab-Cat and The Boy together.
