The Family Wedding Part One

Because of the heavy volume of pictures, and I am sure you all have lives to attend to, we are going to make this a three parter!

On May 31 we all headed to downtown Detroit for a family wedding! My Uncle Bob and Aunt Phyllis’ son Michael was taking a bride!

This venue is across the street from Comerica Park, where the Detroit Tigers play. When booking for the wedding, the bride and groom made sure there was no baseball game, because that would have been traffically crazy. Sometime between booking and the actual date, Comerica added a Country Hoedown on that day. We thought it was going to be super busy down there but the wedding was timed right, and except for a lot of noise outside, it didn’t affect the day at all. As far as I know.

This venue had sentimental value to the bride, Nora, and the groom, our cousin Michael. It’s where they met at a concert. The marquis was so cute!

The Fillmore used to be The State. Beeve said he had been to many concerts there in years past. Our Dad said he had been there when he was six to see a movie! It’s a big old fancy venue! It is right down the street from The Fox, also a big old fancy venue. They sure liked their big old fancy venues in Detroit back in the day!!

The wedding was held in the lobby, then beyond the doors was the stage and reception area.

We had arrived early, because you never know what sort of havoc a country hoedown can cause. We ran right into Beeve, Stacey and Goomba, who reprised his ring bearer role for the second time in six months!

He was looking quite dapper!

Especially from behind! I could not get this picture without making his face shine like a sun!

The Boy and The Dane were also already down there because The Boy was the officiator of the marriage ceremony! Mahwage, mahwage is what bwings us togethah! Name that movie!

We can call this portion of the post the cast of characters. Everyone looked so spiffy in their wedding finery that they required a picture to commemorate the occasion!

Here is The Grandpa with his friend Mrs. H, who looked most loverly in a stunning ensemble she said her daughter in law bought her! Grandpa always cleans up well!

Handsome Goomba with his Aunt Capri Kel.

I am sorry but you will have to indulge me, I am always taking pictures, but I am rarely IN the pictures. Mousey had had a very busy day but you can’t tell. Her friend Beatrix Potter is getting married later this summer and Mousey had been at her bridal shower all afternoon. She wore that pretty dress all day.

She then came home and did The Ab-Cat’s hair and makeup, which was very sisterly of her!

There’s our purty Girls!

I always love to see Honey all handsome and such!

Brother Beeve and SIL Stacey were looking sharp as well!

That is all of the pre wedding pictures. I leave you with this picture of The Boy, waiting to officiate his first wedding!!

Tomorrow, the wedding!

What a fabulous theatre! I know they have the big staircases because they had to accommodate the women in their big dresses back in the day. That building reminds me of The Fox Theatre – just beautiful! I miss Detroit.
