Ingen ferie for drengen

I totally goggled that.

Well, The Boy is not going to Denmark.

His counts went down to 13,000 and he is currently at the University of Chicago receiving two IVIG infusions. Upon discharge he will travel up to Michigan via the Megabus.

This whole episode has been a very difficult pill to swallow for The Boy and The Dane, who is already in Denmark, as well as her lovely parents and brothers and extended family and friends. Not to mention the presumed cancellation of the wedding party The Dane’s parents were having for them. She took her dress and everything.

Of course we do not blame his doctor for his ITP, but she certainly has not handled the situation in a very timely, logical or helpful way. We are all pining for the care and efficiency of our familiar and beloved University of Michigan hospital.

I’m not sure of the whys in all of this, but God knows. They may be able to put some of the pieces together as time passes and see God’s hand clearly, or not. It has been my experience that sometimes you just have to keep walking, believing that He can do all things, and that His way is best, even when I think I need to give explicit instructions, and draw a map and present a diorama outlining my wishes.

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Romans 8:28

God is shaping their faith. Braiding them together. Shared struggles can produce unbreakable bonds. You know, the whole three strands of the rope thingy.

But for now, they are sad. Continued prayers are welcomed.

I wrote to Schmenkie the other day that I don’t always appreciate God’s plan. This is another instance of that. Someday we will understand. Praying through it.
