Wednesday Hodgepodge

I am happy to greet fall and kiss both its cheeks! The cooler temperatures are quite delicious. We are just seeing some color on the trees up here in The Mitten. A big thank you to our hostess Joyce for gathering us every week to talk about stuff!

1. It’s fall. Y’all. My favorite season of the year! What’s something you love to do this time of year that makes you feel it’s officially fall? And unrelated to that, do you ever say-‘y’all’?

I do say Y’All!!

Fall is my favorite season also. I feel like that is disloyal to summer, which I also love, but I have to tell the truth. I love the colors, the bright, cool days, wearing some real clothes, the feeling of a new fresh start, even more of a fresh start then the New Year.

I feel like fall is officially here when I put on socks and boots. And jeans. No turning back once you do that.

2. When did you last have a falling out with someone? Has it been resolved?

There was some falling last year. I am hoping it is completely resolved.
3. A song you love with the word ‘fall’ in it’s title?

I goggled it and I guess I will say Free Falling by Tom Petty. That song is not my favorite, but I do like Tom Petty. So there you go.
4. What’s something you’ve recently let ‘fall by the wayside?’

We have let a lot fall by the wayside this summer, Honey’s schedule has been a real killjoy. We had big plans to refinish the deck, straighten out our garage, re carpet the ramp out there, can salsa, and many other things that are not coming to mind. Oh well, no one’s going to prison. I still have hope we may accomplish a thing or two. 🙂
5. When did you last attend an event, read a book, watch a movie, try a new recipe, or visit a shop-town-tourist attraction that fell short of your expectations? In what way?

One of my favorite television shows was on this summer. I love to watch Who Do You Think You Are?, and I loved watching all the episodes. What fell short was the season was so stinking short! There have been 12 episodes in the past and this season there were only 5! That fell far short for me. I’m still not over it. Call me bitter.

6. Describe a time you said or thought, ‘The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree."

I think this all the time about our children! You will observe some quality and you know so clearly where they have gotten it!

I think it’s especially funny when the child realizes that the apple didn’t fall far from the tree!

I have a way of interacting with people that I know I learned from my Mother, and I see it in each of our children. She might have even learned it from her Mother!

They all three get their love of food, work ethic, and compassion from their Daddy.

Of course, those are some good qualities, I also see some not so good traits they have gotten from our trees. They will remain nameless!

Whether it’s learned behavior or genetic, I cannot say.

7. Was today better than yesterday? Why or why not?

Yes. Monday I worked outside doing manual labor. Tuesday I went to a Bible study at church and did some shopping. No comparison!
8.  Insert your own random thought here.

The Dane saw on the blob that I was looking for a pair of brown boots. I was trying to duplicate this look that I had seen on Pinterest. Or something along those lines.

teacher talk: outfits You'd have to do leggings not tights. Too see-through for the dress code.

She rallied the troops and they went in together to buy me a pair for my birthday! Wasn’t that thoughtful?

Unfortunately, the cute pair she bought hurt my feet because my feet are a giant pain in the rumpus. I went back to DSW to exchange them for some cute, orthopedic boots and these two were about the only pair that met my criteria, didn’t feel like I was standing on a board, didn’t hurt my big toenails, or didn’t pinch, and were brown.

I brought them home to try on with clothes, because as you know, I need options.

The pair on the left I feel are the best looking. My only complaint, and of course there is one, is the top of the boot hits me in a weird place on my kneecap. Like it gets caught there. I look forward to seeing if jeans can keep the kneecap safe.

The pair on the right are SO COMFORTABLE. My only complaint, and of course there is one, is they look very similar to my beloved black boots that I wore the heck out of all winter last year. This brown pair has a bit more buckle-age.

If it comes down to kneecap displacement or similar looking boots, I am going to go for the COMFORTABLE look a likes. I guess I know what I like.

Thank you Kids for one of these pair of cute brown boots! And thank you to The Dane for being so stealthy!

Have a wonderful first week of fall.

Great boots! Love the look. Laughed at your answer to Number 5. Try A Touch of Frost. That has 15 loooong seasons! And it’s a great British mystery show. 🙂 Maybe not your thing? But it sure has a lot of seasons.

I love all boots pretty much. That was a thoughtful gift! I have never watched Who Do You Think You Are. I feel like fall is a fresh start too. It has always seemed to me that’s when the calendar year should begin

Great boots and always chose comfort over style because you will wear them.

You ought to try Zappos for boots. Krystyn has a horrible time getting shoes in her size in the UAE — so she ordered 30 pair to try on here while she was home . They offer free shipping, BOTH ways and you have a year to return. On another note, Autumn is also my favorite time of the year.

Real clothes! Boots. Socks. Jeans. Those are my kind of real clothes.
Sweet surprise about the boots! When I saw the pic of the boots, I remembered seeing those on the right last year at DSW!! I think our feet think alike!! 😉
I am going to have to play that song. Everybody knows it but me.

That was a nice surprise and gift! I like that whole look for you. I am looking for the “boyfriend sweater” in your photo….in pretty colors.

The botom pic isn’t even close…it has gas logs and not a switch or cable jack…I think you missed the look you were going for. I think there might even be a person in the top pic…
