For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food, for love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.

The Weekly Sy

Seymour is in a strange new land. He is thrilled to see other cats. The other cats cannot say the same about him.

He has recovered as easily as can be from his procedures. He is eating and drinking well. He is making full use of everyone’s litter box. He has had two accidents, fits of frustration and naughtiness.

At first the felines were interacting through a closed door. There was not much action on that front. He was thisclose to the door, our girls were as far away as they could get from the door.

Then he was a captive on display in the kennel. Like Charlton Heston in Planet of the Apes. He was beside himself with excitement to see other kitties. They had nothing but growls, hisses and hate in their hearts.

We then started the supervised visits. Surprisingly, Mama Mia is handling this the best. I think she would be fine to ignore him, but Sy has a little personal space issue. Mia is not crazy about him being at either of her ends.

Halle and Lucy are just big balls of hissy growls. Bless Sy’s heart, he just keeps trying. He is submissive, even groveling, to try and make friends.

I have to say it’s a tad more relaxed on occasion. When he is not shadowing them within an inch of their lives. There have been some good signs and then there was The Bad Morning.

Sometimes he goes downstairs with his mom and dad for a little break. He kept putting The Dane’s hand on his head, it was soothing him.

They said he has been very busy and distracted since he has been here. Not much cuddling, no biscuit making, not his sweet, personable self.

Everyone had gone their separate ways last night, it was just Abby and I on the couch. I guess he decided he had had enough with the aloof and he jumped up between us and had a nap. Just a short one, then he was back stalking the girls like it was his J.O.B.

I am praying for a little acceptance over here. I just keep telling ALL of them that they are ok, we have enough loves for everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving to You!

I am having some Hectic up here in The Mitten. Just wanted to say that all is well, but trying to introduce a young cat into our home where three old, inhospitable ladies reside is …..time consuming and disheartening.

Company is all here, The Boy and The Dane arrived with the Grandcat on Friday and Elyk made the trek up from his new home in Iowa last night. Our dear friends the Hostlers and the Peanuts Champ will be joining us tomorrow, along with The Grandpa, who is also dear. There is much to be thankful for.

Honey had heard that it was supposed to be warm last Monday and promptly declared a family raking day. Unfortunately, it was also the blusteriest day known to mankind, there was no raking. BUT, God gave us an early Thanksgiving present!!! He blew all those leaves OFF our lawn!!!! God loves me and Mousey best!!!!

Praying you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I will spend some time counting many blessings, one by one.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Hi Guys! It feels like I have been gone for a long time! Thank you to Joyce for giving us something to chat about every week!

1. What’s something you take for granted, that when you stop and think about it you feel truly grateful for?

I get aggravated with my body. The headaches, backaches, and other pains, the way it has kicked me to the curb a few times in years past, but when I really think about it I am truly grateful for what I’ve got. I can walk, breathe deeply without pain and I have platelets, that’s more than some of my loved ones have right now.
2. The color brown-love it or no? What’s your favorite shade of brown? Most loved something in your home or closet in a shade of brown?

I love brown, to wear and to decorate with. Most browns are good and they look especially nice with rusts, golds and greens, autumns colors. I will say this is my favorite brown thing in our home.

There has been a lot of life around that table. Eating, talking, visiting, games and laughter! And a lot of folded laundry.
3. What’s something you’re looking forward to today?

I always look forward to seeing the ladies at BSF. We manage to get a lot of visiting in when we gather to study God’s Word!
4. The word ‘feminism’ is not new, but it has been generating all kinds of headlines in recent days and months. What do you think/feel when you hear the word? If you’re a woman, do you want to be described as a feminist? Why or why not?

When I was a child growing up in the 70s  the word feminist conjured up a militant, in your face, man bashing woman.  I don’t really consider myself a feminist, but I am aware that the women’s rights movement has facilitated the changes in our country that allow me to vote and to have many of the opportunities that I am able to enjoy.
5. What’s something you personally can’t eat without making a mess?

Ribs get on your hands. I don’t like that.
6. When did you last surprise someone with a little gift or when were you last surprised by someone with a little gift? What was it?

This is my darling friend Dorothy! When we see each other at BSF she says “there’s my Kelly!” and I say “there’s my Dorothy!”. For no reason at all Dorothy gave me the beautimous scarf I am wearing here! I love her.

7. Share a favorite quote, saying, song lyric or scripture relating to gratitude.

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

The Ab-Cat and I are driving to Chicago tomorrow to pick up The Boy, The Dane and the Grandcat, who are coming home for the week of Thanksgiving. The Grandcat is coming to live with us because his parents are moving back into on campus student housing. Did you catch that? The Grandcat is coming to LIVE WITH US!!!!!!! WOO HOO!

Now I will be posting the Weekly Sy so THEY can see HIM!

Caramel Colored Boots, Check!

Just before we left for Florida I went to Kohl’s with a handy dandy 30%off coo-pin borrowed from Mary Zulker. I decided to take a gander in the shoe department. I was actually looking for boots  for The Ab-Cat. Not high boots, not low booties, but mid boots. Imagine my surprise when I found her a pair, me a pair AND three pair of shoes to take home for a trial run around the house!! The jury is still out on them.

I finally found the caramel boots so I could copy the Pinterest outfit! WOO HOO!!!

Imagine my surprise when I got them home and showed Mousey and she said they were the same as hers! I knew I always liked those boots! Well, this is a picture of hers, sprawled out on the floor next to the shoe rack. Mine are in the closet.

I wore the Pinterest outfit to church yesterday!

Sorta kinda the same.

teacher talk: outfits You'd have to do leggings not tights. Too see-through for the dress code.

I liked it, very comfy!

I found an Etsy store called Soulful Edges that had bracelets that I quite fancied. I think this outfit could use one!

Jiggity Jig 2014 part 2

The Bomb Cyclone is still here, but the beast of a headache has left me, thank you LORD!

Let’s go back to Florida, literally AND figuratively, because Y’All it was 17 degrees out there when Keelyody and I walked this morning!

This will be a little random and listy, so it counts as a typical Friday post.

We went to Florida with three set events to work around.

First a visit to the ocean side of the state with Uncle Bob and Aunt Phyllis’ to visit with their daughter and her husband, otherwise known as Team Levine. Other, otherwise known as Girl Cousin Lindsay and Rob B.

We had visited them for the first time in their new home last February, when we were there with our Girls. As they showed us around, they told us of their redecorating plans. They have been busy as bees since we were there!

This would be a great place to insert some loverly pictures wouldn’t it? Unfortunately my camera was in the pool bag, across the state. As was the iPad.

You will have to take my word for it that their new laundry room, living room and renovated bathroom were stunning and delightful!!!

It is always fun to see Team Levine! We caught up with the visiting, made a large dent in their Halloween candy, played cards, Up and Down the River, and went out for dinner at a wood fire pizza place that Honey had visited the last time we vacationed over on that side of the state.

This was where we hatched a plan. All six of us went in on some lottery tickets with the agreement that we would divide it amongst us when we won the zippity million pot!

We planned to meet the morning after the drawing for breakfast to congratulate ourselves on our phenomenal win!

We did not win. Oh well.

Second, we went and visited the Tampa Contingent. See last post.

I believe I mentioned that Honey and I did some walking while staying in Bonita Bay. We found some BIG pinecones while out one morning. I told Honey that I wanted to pick some up on our way back to the condo. I had seen what to do with them on the Pinterest.

First thing, we had to figure out how to get them back. Honey suggested we use the bags the neighborhood so thoughtfully provided for the folks who walk their dogs and forget to bring their own bags.

Once we got them home, they sat outside the condo door for about a week until I looked it up in my pinned pins. Bake at 200 for an hour to kill anything that might be lurking. I left them in another 1/2 hour of so because the thought of lurking things gave me the willies.

I brought them home in our nearly empty carry on suitcase with other random things. They made it home in one piece!

I can either swap them out for the little ones on our coffee table or do something else. The world is my oyster. My pineconed oyster.

Sweet Odin’s raven!, these were tasty!!!!

Especially that cherry almond bear claw thing in the front that we very quickly schnibbled to death. Get in ma belly!

My Uncle Bob and Aunt Phyllis bought a place in Naples last spring after renting for several years. They had gone down in early fall to get some things, furniture, new air conditioner, you know, things you will need to actually live in a place. Phyllis said she needed to go back because she had some things to do, had stuff to be delivered, dishes to buy, et cetera, et cetera. I told her I wished they were going to be there when we were.

That’s when she devised the plan. Bob said he didn’t want to go, he had things to do in Michigan. She said she was going to work on him. We were chatting back and forth on Words With Friends and she would say things like “it’s looking dismal”, “he’s digging in” and “I see a chink in the armor”. We met for lunch and discussed it further. She suggested I call and work the problem from my end. He’s a smart one, he knew exactly what was happening! In the end he fell victim to our onslaught, they arrived a couple days after we did!!!

We got to see their new place!

I can envision them out on the lanai, having coffee, reading their Bible study notes,

looking at their green, pretty view, while we shiver and shovel up here in The Mitten.

Their place was beautiful, I was especially coveting their island.

Serious, deep, complete…

We had a very nice time with them and I am so glad they came! We ate together, travelled together and of course visited! I even went to the Naples BSF class with Phyllis when I was down there. I had not been to a different class in 19 years!!! That was fun! It’s was nice to see God working through BSF in another state!

Just a fun fact. When you attend another BSF class they ask you to sign in as a visitor. I know this because I work at the administration table for our class. Their table was swamped because the snowbirds were starting to arrive. They had more people on their signup sheet that night than we get in a whole YEAR! There were 4 visitors in Phyllis’ discussion group, that is unheard of for our class! It was a very good experience!

The third thing set on our day planner was a meeting with a realtor. We ended up meeting with her twice to see houses and condos and carriage houses. We still don’t know what we will do but we were able to rule some things in,  some things out, and gain a little knowledge about how things work in the area of fees and taxes and over 55 communities. It was all good to know stuff. Honey is going to be keeping his eye on certain areas. We will see.

On the morning we left we took a memory foam topper we had bought at Sam’s over to Bob and Phyl’s, because the bed at our condo was so hard it was about to cripple us both. They are storing it for us in case we ever have that problem down there again!

After packing, dropping off the mattress pad, weighing our suitcases at one of the many friendly neighborhood Publix, we dropped off the rental car and waited for our flight home.

We agreed once again that we like each other and are looking forward to retirement!

Thanks Honey for taking me on bacation!!!
