Wednesday Hodgepodge

Hi Guys! Thanks for hodgepodging with us today, and thanks, as always, to Joyce for our questions!

1.  ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?  The NFL is back in action along with all the college teams.  Are you a fan?  Who do you root for?  If you’re not a fan what do you do while the rest of America watches Saturday, Sunday, Monday night, and now Thursday night games?

When asked about sports I always quote Remember The Titans, “Cheryl, CHERYL, I.DO.NOT.CARE”. I do many, many other things when the games are on, and most of them are quite enjoyable.
2. What’s something I’ll always find in your closet?

Blue jeans and black shoes.
3. Share one of your earliest memories.

I had minor surgery when I was about 4 or 5 and my Grandma Georgia had to sneek up the back stairs to visit me. That seems so odd to me because now you can have anyone at anytime visit! When I came home from the hospital, my Mom had changed the sheets on my bed. There were little red hearts on the pillowcases. I liked those little red hearts.
4. What circus act best describes your week so far?

Clowns. Sad, sad clowns.
5. What’s a food you disliked as a child but you love now?
I did not like guacamole until I was in my late 30s or 40s! I thought it tasted like grass. I know, I can’t believe it either!

6.  Describe your summer in three words.

Smoldering, plant-watering, and finished-yard-work!!!!! I tried, 3 were not possible.
7.  Where were you on September 11, 2001? Will you do anything special to mark the day this year?

I had gone walking with my neighbor Karen. When we arrived home, my next door neighbor Anju came out of her house telling us that something bad had happened on tv. I had a hard time understanding what she was trying to tell us so I said I was going to go find out. I went in and turned on the tv and was horrified. I called RaeBabe to see if she had heard and she had. She came over and we sat there for the rest of the day, glued to the tv. I still regret that I did not go back and get Anju. It didn’t occur to me until much later that she probably didn’t want to be alone either.
8.  Insert your own random thought here.

Abby lost her good Friend yesterday. Katie was 14 and had been in declining health for the last couple of years, and her heart was giving out. That little pooch-i-doo was as tough and determined as they come, it seemed like she had 9 lives. Honey said she would probably never die because she was afraid she would miss a meal.

She has been a part of our family for the last 10 years, and Abby’s constant companion. She loved to ride on Abby’s lap in the wheelchair, go on car and boat rides, and sleep on the couch with Honey. And eat. Oh, I said that already, but it bears repeating. Girlfriend was a mooch.

She took her job as Abby’s protector seriously, just ask The Boy.

We will miss our little Bubbas. Beeve mentioned that she was probably already in heaven, sitting on her second favorite lap, Grandma’s. Oh, she loved the Grandma!

Her last photo shoot this morning.

Goodbye sweet Girl. You were loved.

Hope Abby is doing o.k. Very hard losing a pet who has become your best friend and family. Prayers to her but Beeve is probably right. She is sitting on her second favourite lap. 🙂

Oh I’m so sorry for the loss of your pup. They are a part of the family and leave a space when they’re gone. Hope your girl is doing okay. That’s a tough one.

(My Own Random Thought) I miss cooking very much and I need to figure out a way to keep that portion of my brain working while I’m a poor student.

Isn’t it something how we remember exactly where we were on September 11? I was in Chicago helping my daughter who was pregnant on bed-rest for her 2nd baby. It was a bright blue sunny Tuesday just like it was this year. It was so eerie outside because there were no planes in the air which was a common thing where they lived. I don’t do anything special; I did watch a TV special this year.
